These trick fountains at Hellbrun Palace were created for 17th century Salzburg Bishop Marcus Sitticus, who liked to embarrass his guests. When they would sit down at the large table outside, the Bishop would turn on the fountains, which would soak his guests. Remember, it was considered rude to stand up while the host was still sitting down!
